“Hey, can loan your bike for a minute?”

This is a pretty funny video (unfortunately in Danish) about a guy trying to loan people’s bikes on the streets of Copenhagen to see how friendly and open people are here (generally, not terribly much of either). To their credit though, he does surprisingly manage to get someone to loan him a bike in the end!

The dialogue typically goes something like this:

“Hey, can I borrow your bike? I’m just going to go to…. and back. I’ll be back in like 10 minutes! I promise!”

“Uh… I have to go to work, so, um, sorry. Good luck!”

The last guy I think agrees because he offers some collateral (his cell phone). He then tells him he’s on camera. It’s part of a larger project about whether more open people make for a better city life.
